    Walker Downrigger working again

Posted by Unknown on 15th Apr 2018

Broke the gear teeth middle of last season. Finally after almost 6 months of waiting for this part to be in stock I got one shipped to me. I wish Walker would have more replacement parts available on the market. Seems to be working ok in the shop. Ready to go this year with all my downriggers.

    old walker electric

I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get parts for this older walker down rigger. I crossed my fingers and ordered this part, and it fit in perfectly.

Frabrication Needed for Older Motor Connection

Posted by GW on 10th Aug 2016

If you have an older Walker Electric Downrigger and would need a new drive shaft assembly you will have to make a modification to the electric motor. After finding the sleeve housing of the shaft assembly was less in depth than the old housing by an inch. I called Fish 307 and found that the motor shaft that supports the drive shaft would have to be cut down to fit the "new" drive shaft. I used a Dremel with a metal cut off disk to cut off one inch of the motor support shaft so that the new drive shaft would fit. All seems to be working. Although it is a bit of a hassle I rated the product a 5 star in the fact that this is the only part you can replace the old part with and it was not that difficult of a process to complete.
