After 30 years, one of my four knobs broke. If I get 30 more out of it, I'll be dead.
This arrived on time, but I was disappointed to see that it has the same problem as the knob I replaced -- the threads are just ground into the plastic knob and it's not going to last that long if you adjust the tension on your rigger cable regularly.
I must have gotten old stock since my original knob had a steel insert, but neither of my 2 new ones I just ordered do, they are just threaded plastic. Good thing I bought 2 of them so I have a spare when the first one strips out.
Note from FISH307: Walker Downriggers continues to be inconsistent in their manufacturing process since the sale of the company to Tecla.
Once again Berts Custom Tackle has put out a top notched product. This new design of the Walker Downrigger clutch knob incorporates a metal threaded insert. No more stripped out threads like the original plastic threaded clutch knobs.
