Z-Bug Lantern + Light FAQ:

Q: Can you hear the bugs getting "zapped"?

A: The noise generally associated with bug lights is caused primarily by the exoskeleton of the insect. For most small bugs, including mosquitoes, you likely wouldn't hear a noise. It is possible that for larger insects you could hear a noise.

Q: Does the UV light actually attract mosquitoes?

A: All bright light attracts flying insects. In particular, many scientists agree that mosquitoes can see and are attracted to UV light. When the flying insect is drawn towards the light they come in contact with the electrically charged grid that zaps and kills them.

Q: Does the Z-BUG Lantern have to be on for the bug zapper to work, or will it kill flying bugs even with the light off?

A: The UV LEDs of the Z-BUG Lantern have to be on in order to attract and kill the flying insects.

Q: Will insects fall to the outside of the bulb or will they also fall inside the BUG Lantern’s zapper cage? Will I need to clean it?

A: This depends largely on the way that the bulb stands within the fixture. To clean, turn off the power switch then remove bulb from socket and shake out any bug remains. You can also use the Z-BUG Brush that comes with each Lantern and carefully sweep out any bug remains.

Q: Is the Z-BUG Lantern water and rain proof?

A: The Z-BUG Lantern is intended for indoor/outdoor use, but it is not water proof.

Q: At what distance will the Z-BUG Lantern attract flying bugs?

A: Generally, it should attract bugs as far as 15-25 feet away or as far as the UV light is visible to the flying bugs.

Q: Can this be used indoors also?

A: The Z-Bug Lantern + Light can be used indoors or outdoors.
