Curriculum:

Intro to Fly Fishing - Class #1

Have you always wanted to try fly fishing but didn't know where to go to learn? Well, Class #1 is the place to start. The excellent instruction at our specially designed casting pond will teach you the basic fundamentals of the fly fishing.

Mechanics of casting and how it is done. With personal instruction, each student is moved along the stages that specifically advances each student. The equipment used in fly fishing will be explained in detail. Line nomenclature, leaders, tippets and how to match the size of flies to the lines, etc. Instruction, proper use and hands on practice in the knots used in fly fishing are skillfully provided.
 


Intermediate Fly Fishing - Class #2

For those who have mastered the skill of Class #1 you can continue to hone your skills and expand your abilities for a greater enjoyment of this exciting sport.

Casting knowledge and proficiency will be elevated to allow you to more accurately present flies that others struggle with. Stream & Pond entomology will be explained so you can better select the proper fly to use for better and consistent results. Reading the water properly allows you to put it all together by being able to predict where and why fish position themselves, in all types of water.


Advanced Fly Fishing - Class #3

After mastering the skills and essentials of Classes 1 & 2 this class deals with the with perfecting your fly fishing skills.

Improve your casting skills by adding the single and double haul, casting difficult flies and greater distance. Knowing how to fish sub surface flies streamers, nymphs, wets and other sub surface flies, with tried and true tactics, will dramatically improve your catch rate. Nothing beats the rush watching a fish take your dry fly. Tactics on all facets of presenting a dry fly including common pit falls will be shared.

When you complete these courses you will be more advanced than most schools. The Lake George Fly Fishing School will help you catch fish without a doubt and make you a 100% complete fly Fisherman on the water.

Registration:

2 Day School

Pre-Registration Necessary. All Equipment is supplied by the school. Please download and fill out (PRINT) one (1) application per person.

Application and Cost:

Taught each day 9am to 12pm & 1pm to 5pm.

Monday-Saturday

1 Day School is $150.00 per person

14 to 17 year old 15% discount

2nd person in same family (proof required) 15% discount

About Roland "Bob" Berzal Director & Instructor

Bob (nickname) was born and brought up in the Hudson Valley, and resides in Catskill, NY. A graduate of the SUNY system, a lifetime fisherman, but excelling in Fly Fishing for over 20 years. Wrote, directed, and instructed the Fly Fishing, Fly Tying and Advanced Fly Tying School at Columbia-Greene Community College, Hudson, NY for 16 years, worked 3 years for Orvis, Sandanona, Millbrook, NY, recently retired and is pursuing his love of both Fly Fishing and Fly Fishing instruction. This is Bob's first year of directing the Lake George Fly Fishing School and is the only school that has a mobile classroom.
